Part 4 of 3 Voices: Pat Williams continued

Pat Williams, The Full Moon of January 4, 21” x 21”

This post is a continuation of the previous one highlighting tapestries from the Full Moon series by Pat Williams as seen at the Three Voices exhibit. I’ve split it into two posts because of the number of images.

You know what I was saying earlier about the hair in another piece and the sense of movement? It’s also her use of line that pulls me in, as in the March 5th tapestry below.

The June 2nd moon is another favorite of mine and you can probably guess why. Seriously, yes, the hair is absolutely wonderful, but it’s also “all” the patterning going on… it’s even in the joins used for the patchwork and window!

I studied this one for a long time… for me… it’s a powerhouse of nostalgia.

By now you know I’m completely smitten with the tapestries of Pat Williams. But the day I saw the show and could stand in front of each of these tapestries, the one I kept returning to was The Full Moon of December 25.

I don’t know why.  I only know it’s so much more than line, movement, and texture.

This is the last of the series on 3 Voices. I think I may be as sad to see it end as I was to have to leave the show.

Part Two: Jennifer Sargent

Part Three: Tommye Scanlin

Part Four: Pat Williams

(As in the previous posts, forgive the shadows in some of the images. It was very hard to work around the lighting in the gallery and I did not want to butcher the quality with editing.)
