New Shop on My Tapestry Journeys

I’ve added a new section on my website. Actually a Shop. It’s called Knitwear.

Now this may seem odd, and no- I’m not leaving the world of Tapestry.

For those that don’t know my history, let me give you some background.

Weaving was my LOVE. I had a beautiful 60 inch floor loom …

But in those days I had not been successful at finding a venue for my work so I eventually felt the necessity to give it up in my early 30’s to pursue a career in knitwear design.

In those thirty some years (~1988 to 2018) ) I went from designing one-of-a-kind “art-to-wear” garments to that brilliant “aha moment” of “hey, I can sell my designs instead”… to eventually hiring knitters to keep up with the endless tight deadlines for the major publications l was routinely working with.

In those same years, I also went from a cozy single room studio for my 60” floor loom with a little knitting machine in the corner… to 5 knitting machines… to no knitting machines and LOTS of knitting needles and crochet hooks… and a shop full of yarn (literally, yes, really).

Although breaking my wrist in late 2017 led me back to tapestry, I admit I had been becoming increasingly discontent and weary of the rigid deadlines for the past several years at that time.

All this to say, hundreds of sweater designs later (and a not small number of accessories) I have accumulated a closet full of plastic tubs filled with knits I will never wear.

Thus, the Knitwear tab here on this website. I expect it to be an ongoing work in progress. Images and details will need to be tracked down and that will take some time.

Please help me spread the word if you know of anyone that might be interested. ♥️
